Morgan Geist and Darshan Jesrani's 2002 debut, remastered across three LPs on Geist's own Environ label. Metro Area is the record that taught a generation of producers what nu-disco could be — live-feeling percussion, basslines with actual swing, and an ear for the space between disco, boogie and deep house. "Miura", "Caught Up" and "Atmosphrique" have been in serious DJ bags for two decades. An album that gets called influential so often people forget it's also a pleasure to listen to end to end.
