Sampled is another deep-dive box set from the French titans at Wagram that traces the DNA of modern pop, hip-hop and electronic music back to its source. Spanning 60 original tracks across five LPs, this bumper collection pulls together the songs that shaped era-defining hits from artists like Fatboy Slim, Massive Attack, 2Pac, Drake, Moby and Amy Winehouse. From soul and funk to jazz, blues and Afro grooves, it features heavyweights including Betty Wright, Quincy Jones, Lafayette Afro Rock Band, Nina Simone, Patrice Rushen and B.B. King. More than a compilation that's good in its own right, this is a crate-digger's dream packed with raw, influential recordings that continue to echo through contemporary music culture.

A good history lesson.

I was curios because of the songs and artists I know that is on the back cover of the back, gave me an insight to what were they looking for to give us either samples of the lyrics (Massive Attacks 'Be Thankful For What You Got') and spinned it into what we hear on that track. A great history listen so the genre's of the past eighty plus years that we wouldn't normally delve into.
