Some Friendly (1999) bottled the humid essence of Madchester and gave it staying power. Beggars inner circler Chris Nagle ensured its baggy-era swagger would layer well with a darker melodic suit, a tension that helped the band outlast many of their peers. This 35th anniversary edition, remastered at Abbey Road by Frank Arkwright and expanded with Tim Burgess-curated mixes and alternates, sharpens the low-end throb and organ shimmer while revealing just how rhythm-focused and club-ready the band were from the outset.
