Assembled under the direction of bandleader Ian Anderson, the album spans the band's golden era between 1969 and 1975, featuring essential radio tracks alongside subtle alternative mixes, single edits, and the rare non-album b-side "Rainbow Blues".

Reissued as part of Warner Music's Spirit of '76 campaign, this audiophile edition was newly cut at half-speed by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios directly from the original analogue source master tapes. Running the source tape and cutting lathe at half speed allows for superior high-frequency clarity, transient response, and pristine dynamic separation. Pressed on 140g Standard Black Vinyl.
