The defining, multi-platinum sophomore masterpiece that established Foo Fighters as an absolute juggernaut of modern rock.
Originally released in May 1997 through Roswell and Capitol Records, The Colour And The Shape marked the transition of Foo Fighters from Dave Grohl's solo bedroom project into a full-fledged band featuring Pat Smear, Nate Mendel, and William Goldsmith. Produced alongside Gil Norton, the album channels raw catharsis, explosive dynamics, and deeply personal lyrical themes following Grohl’s divorce. During production, Grohl famously re-recorded almost all of the drum tracks himself, resulting in one of the most powerful and tightest rhythmic foundations in alternative rock history.
This modern reissue, remastered from the original analogue tapes by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering and Bob Ludwig, is pressed across two 180g High-Performance Black LPs to preserve maximum dynamic headroom across its 13 tracks.
