Fronted by the larger-than-life soul singer James "Baby Huey" Ramey, The Baby Huey Story: The Living Legend stands as a monumental cornerstone of heavy psychedelic soul and funk. Following Ramey's tragic passing at age 26, producer Curtis Mayfield completed and released the record on his Curtom label in 1971. The album captures a ferocious fusion of blistering brass, heavy breakbeats, and Ramey's raw, passionate vocal performances.
Mastered from the original analogue tapes by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering and pressed on 180-gram audiophile vinyl at Fidelity Record Pressing as part of Rhino's premium Rhino Reserve Series, this release delivers unmatched dynamic clarity and warm low-end punch. Housed in a deluxe gatefold jacket, it is an essential audiophile pressing for soul, funk, and hip-hop collectors.
