Originally self-released in August 2015 via Beyond The Groove, Beat Tape 2 is the seminal second mixtape project from British producer, singer, and multi-instrumentalist Tom Misch. Expanding on the bedroom-produced instrumental soundscapes of his first Beat Tape, this album showcased his rapidly evolving talent as an arranger, songwriter, and curator, elevating his signature liquid guitar licks and unhurried head-nodding grooves with a stellar lineup of guest vocalists and collaborators.
A vital pillar of Nu-Jazz, Neo-Soul, Downtempo, and Lo-Fi Hip-Hop, the project served as an early showcase for some of the UK’s finest talent. Standout tracks include "Nightgowns" featuring South London rapper Loyle Carner, the infectious soul-house bounce of "Wake Up This Day" with Jordan Rakei, the lush jazz fusion of "Hark" featuring Alfa Mist, and the breakout single "Beautiful Escape" featuring Zak Abel.
Spread across 2x LP Black Vinyl, this double-disc pressing provides plenty of headroom to let the warm basslines, crisp percussion, and intricate guitar work shine.
