"The Name of This Band Is Talking Heads” is a reference to the group's preference to not have "the" in their name and a nod to the way David Byrne would introduce songs live - just by saying the name of the song. The album features the original quartet on live recordings from 1977 to 1979 on the first disc and an expansion to a ten-piece lineup with live sets from 1980 to 1981 on their “Remain In Light” tour on the second disc.
Arguably one of their finest releases, "The Name of This Band Is Talking Heads" chronicles the growth of Talking Heads, both stylistically and personnel-wise. The excitement of the album's material is substantial and the muscular band rips into the tunes often with more power than the originals.
