Released in July 2026, Sugar serves as the triumphant final installment in Mayday Parade’s three-part album series, following Sweet (April 2025) and Sad (October 2025). The project marks a landmark transition for the Tallahassee pop-punk/emo quintet as their first major fully independent album release. Taking complete creative control, the band built a nearly 30-song body of work across the trilogy while leaning back into their DIY roots.
Spanning Emo, Pop-Punk, and Alternative Rock, Sugar balances nostalgic, driving emo hooks with mature sonic evolution. Standout highlights include the driving pulse of "Blame It On The Youth," the glossy melodic groove of "Two Hearts," the hypnotic piano ballad "What Happens Next," and the title track "Sweet Sad Sugar".
