This Record Store Day Black Friday 2026 exclusive 15th anniversary collector’s edition 2XLP has been remastered by D-Sane at Digital Age Sound and pressed on “Primal Rage” swirl vinyl (ruby, custard and black). Housed in a 24pt direct-to-board wide-spine jacket, the release features completely overhauled artwork with an updated layout by Jelle Smid, spot gloss detailing over the front-cover gorilla illustration, and an OBI strip to finish the presentation. Honkey Kong stands as one of the most explosive and fully realized statements in Apathy’s storied catalog. Originally released in 2011, the third official solo album from the Connecticut lyricist captured him at peak form, balancing razor-sharp technical ability, unfiltered aggression, dark humor and blue-collar introspection across a relentless, no-skips body of work. Now, fifteen years later, Demigodz Entertainment and Coalmine Reissues proudly present the album’s first-ever vinyl reissue for Record Store Day Black Friday 2026. Stacked with an all-star cast of underground heavyweights, Honkey Kong features appearances from Vinnie Paz, Celph Titled, Action Bronson, Ill Bill, Xzibit, Esoteric, Blacastan, Mad Lion, General Steele and more. Production is equally formidable, with contributions from DJ Premier, DJ Muggs, Evidence, Khrysis, Statik Selektah, Stu Bangas, Da Beatminerz, Vanderslice, Teddy Roxpin and Apathy himself. Among the album’s many standouts are the DJ Premier-produced anthem “Stop What Ya Doin’” featuring Celph Titled, the sobering reality check of “Check to Check,” the hard-bodied Connecticut anthem “Peace Connecticut,” and the self-titled opener “Honkey Kong” featuring Vinnie Paz, which immediately sets the tone for the chaos ahead. Yet reducing the album to only a handful of highlights hardly does it justice. Front to back, Honkey Kong delivers an unrelenting barrage of rugged, expertly crafted hip-hop. This definitive edition also introduces completely overhauled artwork, replacing the original cover with a stark black backdrop and striking close-up gorilla illustration, elevating the presentation into something timeless, menacing and iconic.
