Earl Sweatshirt, one of the best lyricists in the US, dedicated his third solo album in three years, "Some Rap Songs," to his father who passed away in 2018. After releasing "Outside" in 2013, Earl Sweatshirt had not been heard from for a while, but this is the first new album in a while to break that silence. The album is a tribute to his father, Keoraptse Kgositsile, who passed away in July 2018, and both of his parents play guest roles on "Playing Possum," the 13th track on the album. Other songs on the album include "Nowhere2go," a single in which Kgositsile sings about how he overcame his father's death, "Even when things go wrong, I thank God and pray, I have no more requests," "The Mint" with Navy Blue, and "Standing on theCorner" with New York's hottest group, "Standing on theCorner. The album includes 15 songs in total, including "Nowhere2go," a song about how she overcame the death of her father, "Nowhere2go," "The Mint" featuring Navy Blue, and "Ontheway!Earl Sweatshirt has often sung about his parents in his music, but in this album, he sings again about their existence, influence, and gratitude, as well as his "now" as a child and now as an adult.
