Laura Lee, Mark Speer and Donald "DJ" Johnson aka Khruangbin and Leon Bridges not only all grew up in Texas, they are all among the most exciting artists in the current music world.
The psychedelic funk instrumental combo and the soul singer with a penchant for retro sound met on tour about two years ago. The idea of joint music was born.
In 2020, the time has finally come. "Texas Sun" is the title of her collabo EP, which is a kind of homage to the US state.
Already the first single, the title track "Texas Sun", takes the listener on a relaxed-groovy journey through the Texas countryside, from Fort Worth to Amarillo. With "C-Side" already the second foretaste of the altogether four-song strong record was released.
Exotic funk meets a unique soulful voice: Khruangbin and Leon Bridges are a more than successful combination.
