Black Noise - Pantha Du Prince - Vinyl LP Record

Making the move from Dial records to indie powerhouse Rough Trade, Pantha Du Prince delivers one of his finest albums to date with the finely structured 'Black Noise'. Featuring contributions from Noah Lennox aka Panda Bear and Tyler Pope of LCD Soundsystem, Du Prince's latest album elevates him above the rest of the minimal crowd to a status occupied by the likes of Villalobos or Isolee, crafting delicately nuanced music that's at once rooted in the methods of classical techno and house music, but also appealing to a far wider audience. Hendrik Weber, as he's known to his parents, has a varied musical background, playing bass in Hamburg indie band Stella and stating influence from the likes of Morton Subotnik and Luigi Nono, all of which informs his blend of natural and synthesized sounds, balancing robust Detroit house grooves with delicately dynamic electro-acoustics. The cameo appearances are successful, incorporating Tyler Pope's lithely melodic bass on 'The Splendour', and the inimitable vocals of Noah Lennox in 'Stick To My Side',  while the rest of the set gaily sweeps and sashays between romantic compositons like the Luciano-esque 'Satellite Snyper', or dark and sticky moments like 'Behind The Stars' and widescreen splendour on 'Welt Am Draht'.
