How Pre-Orders Work: A Guide for Music Enthusiasts

Pre-ordering vinyl records is a popular option for music enthusiasts looking to secure their copy of an upcoming release, especially for limited editions or exclusive pressings. However, it's important to understand placing a pre-order does not guarantee receipt of the specific title.

As an independent record store, we're just as excited as you are about new releases. We place orders with record labels and distributors to fulfil the demand of our passionate community. But here's the catch: we are often at the mercy of said labels and distributors regarding the supply of these vinyl records.

Despite placing orders for a certain quantity, we sometimes receive fewer copies than requested and often after the expected release date. These discrepancies are due to various factors beyond our control, such as production constraints, allocation decisions made by labels, or higher-than-anticipated demand.

This mismatch can understandably lead to customer dissatisfaction. You've been waiting eagerly for your pre-ordered album, only to find out it's not available on release day, or sometimes, at all. We share deeply in this frustration. Not only does it disappoint our valued customers, but it also reflects poorly on our store. The irony is that while we face the direct impact of these supply shortfalls, the record labels, the actual decision-makers in supply allocation, often remain shielded from customer discontent.

We strive to provide the best service and to keep you informed about the availability of your pre-ordered records. Our commitment to transparency and customer satisfaction remains strong, even in the face of these industry challenges.

Payment and Cancellation

Pre-orders must be paid in full at the time of ordering. We do not accept reservations to avoid excess unsellable stock due to cancellations. You can cancel your pre-order at any time by emailing us with your order number.

Order Fulfilment and Refunds

All pre-orders are processed on a first-come, first-served basis. However, placing a pre-order does not guarantee the receipt of the specific title. Factors such as delays, cancellations, or limited supply may impact the availability of the item. In these situations, you have three options:

Wait: If you prefer to wait for new stock to arrive for your pre-ordered title, we will keep you updated on the estimated arrival.

Full refund: If we are unable to fulfil your pre-order due to stock limitations, you are entitled to a full refund.

Alternative option: In cases where availability is affected by delays or other issues, we offer the choice of a refund or an alternative item of the same or lesser value.

Pre-Order Shipping

Pre-orders will be shipped alongside in-stock items once the pre-ordered item is released. Check our website for the most current release dates.

Delays and Variations in Pre-Order Items

Vinyl pre-order release dates and variants are subject to change. We may receive fewer items than ordered or different colour variants. Our website will have the latest updates, and we will endeavour to inform you if your order is impacted.

Limitation of Pre-Orders

We reserve the right to limit pre-orders in cases where the stock received does not meet the volume of orders placed.
