1984 was INXS's breakthrough year. Their album ‘The Swing’ spent five weeks at #1 in Australia, and the band started to make real inroads in the USA and Europe thanks to the Nile Rodgers-produced single ‘Original Sin’.
To celebrate ‘The Swing’ selling 250,000 copies in Australia, the band released ‘DEKADANCE’, a remix collection available only on cassette with six different covers, one for each band member.
With the bands’ music back in vogue once more, September 6th sees the long awaited return of the seminal seven track remix collection with its first ever official vinyl release. (250 x 12” promos were made at the time with now change hands for hundred of dollars), marking the 35th anniversary of The Swing.
Dekadance features six extended and re-mixed versions of songs from THE SWING album. These six songs are “ORIGINAL SIN,” “I SEND A MESSAGE,” and “BURN FOR YOU—all Nick Launay re-mixed versions and all previously released as twelve-inch singles. “DANCING ON THE JETTY, which is the re-mixed version, was released as the album's fourth single. Then there are two rare extended/re-mixed versions of “LOVE IS (WHAT I SAY)” and “MELTING IN THE SUN.”
As a bonus to all this, the LP includes a seventh song: the cover of the Nancy Sinatra / Lee Hazlewood duet “JACKSON”—performed by the band together with QED’s Jenny Morris duetting with Michael Hutchence on vocals.
These lovely goodies are cut to a heavyweight 180-gram vinyl LP, featuring artwork replicated from the ultra-rare 12 Dekadance promo gifted to Australian Radio stations in 1984.
